
Basic Bird ID & Birdwatching
A practical bird identification workshop, led by naturalist Dr. Lynne Brookes. This workshop is suitable for beginning/intermediate level participants, and includes use of taxidermy mounts and viewing resident birds. Resource materials, birdwatching pointers, places to go and local bird viewing opportunities are all included. Bird ID skills will be practiced on-site at the North Island Wildlife Recovery Centre, and off-site in the Parksville-Qualicum Beach area.
Workshop fee is $55.00 tax, which includes the Birds of Southwestern British Columbia book. Limited enrolment (14 ), pre-registration required.
Bring binoculars if you have them (suggested 8 x 42), as well as water and snacks. Dress appropriately as this event is rain or shine. Please be prepared for easy walking and drive to two or three birding sites in the Parksville-Qualicum Beach area.
