Nature Photography Contest

Hit us with your best shots! This years photography contest is all about Nature and we want you to submit up to 3 of your best Nature photographs. Enter for free for your chance to win a whale watching expedition for two from Prince of Whales – Victoria!

Voting Open: March 31st 8:00AM – April 4th 11:59 PM PST
Must be photos from within the Mount Arrowsmith Biosphere Region

Contest Rules:
The Host:
The host of this contest is the Mount Arrowsmith Biosphere Region. Hereafter the host will be referred to as the MABR.

Eligibility:
There is no purchase necessary to enter or win this photo contest. By participating in this contest you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age or have the consent of your legal guardian to participate in the Brant Wildlife Nature Photography Contest. Geographic requirements of the photo(s) entered into the contest are such that, they must have been taken within the boundaries of the Mount Arrowsmith Biosphere Region listed in the rules below. Participation in the contest constitutes the Entrants full and unconditional agreement to abide by these contest rules and regulations and MABR’s decisions, which are final and binding in all matters related to the contest.

Submission Requirements:
The contest opens for submissions on Monday March 3rd at 8:00 AM PST and closes for submissions on Sunday March 30th at 11:59 PST. The submitted photo(s) must never have been selected as a winner in any other contest. To be eligible for entry in this contest, the photo(s) must meet the following specific requirements: Photos are to be submitted as high resolution .jpg or .png files and must meet the contest requirements.

Contest conditions and rights:
The contest entrant submitting their photo(s) verifies it is their own creative property, that the photo(s) is/are original to them and that entrant has all necessary rights in and to the photo(s) to enter the contest. By submitting photo(s) to this contest, the entrant hereby grants the MABR the right to use photos submitted to the contest. The use of these photos extends to digital and print formats for promotional, marketing and/or supplementary materials on social media platforms, documentation and video. The MABR has the non-exclusive, royalty free rights to display and publish in perpetuity any entry and/or use any entry during or after the contest without further compensation to the entrant.

The intended use of the images submitted by the contest entrant is to help showcase the many different aspects of the Mount Arrowsmith Biosphere Region and maximize different views of the natural world within its boundaries. We hope to showcase many of these photos in future publications in the aforementioned media platforms and documentation with due credit given to the photographer. The MABR or Woobox assumes no responsibility for lost, delayed, incomplete, incompatible or misdirected entries including technical errors experienced by contest entrants.

Is there a restriction on where photos are/were taken? Yes. Photos must have been taken within the boundaries of the Mount Arrowsmith Biosphere Region. https://www.mabr.ca/geography

How many photos can be submitted? Participants will be limited to uploading 3 photos.

What kind of photos do I upload? The theme for this years competition is Nature photography. This includes wildlife (birds, mammals, insects, fish) as well as scenic, landscape level photography or macro photography of nature-based scenes. Images must not depict wildlife experiencing harm, injury or death, with the exception of showing wildlife partaking in natural feeding and/or predatory behaviors.

Is there any content in photos we cannot upload? Any photos containing nudity, profanities, harmful language, illicit substances or activities will not be permitted to enter the contest. The MABR reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any entrant should entrant’s registration be incomplete, not meet all requirements of these official rules, or contains inappropriate or offensive content including injury or harm to wildlife with the exception of showing wildlife partaking in natural feeding and/or predatory behaviours. All photos will be reviewed once submitted and inappropriate photos or those not meeting contest requirements will be removed by the sole discretion of the MABR.

How are winners selected and notified? The winner of each category will be chosen based on votes once the voting period has closed. The voting period extends from March 31st at 8:00AM – April 4th at 11:59 PM – PST, 2025. Voting is open to the public through the Woobox contest platform and to contest participants. The photo that receives the most votes, wins. The winner will be notified by the MABR via email and through an announcement on social platforms such as, but not limited to, Facebook and Instagram, as well as the Brant Wildlife Festival website at: https://brantfestival.bc.ca/events/brant-wildlife-festival-nature-photography-contest/ .

The entrant must acknowledge their prize as instructed by the MABR no later than seven days following the MABR’s attempt at contacting the selected winner. If the prize is not claimed within this period their prize will be forfeit and a new winner will be selected based off the photo with the second highest number of votes.
